Bushfire affected households – rebates, grants, incentives and advice
A range of rebates, grants and other incentives including sustainable building advice are available to residents rebuilding their homes after the 2009 Victorian bushfires.
There are currently a number of rebates/incentives available to eligible homeowners installing a solar hot water system in rebuilt homes. With conventional water heating systems accounting for approximately 20% of a household’s greenhouse gas emissions in Victoria, installing a solar water heater will reduce these emissions and also save up to 75% of water heating costs.
A Victorian Government grant is also available for installing water tanks in eligible rebuilt homes which will assist in reducing the cost of installation.
To qualify for the Victorian Government rebate/grant applicants must have been eligible to receive a Destroyed Homes Payment.
Rebates/grants are only available for permanent new homes. Temporary accommodation, including transportable buildings, caravans, motor homes and sheds are not eligible.
