Garry Hayes ‘Rockalot’ – a tribute to Graeme Savage
Chicken House,Black Cat Bone
This new combo has allowed Melbourne Jazz musician Sandro Donati to explore his North East Italian heritage and present a selection of Friulian Folk songs in a jazz / world music setting, along with some New Orleans, Cuban, Caribbean and Tex Mex flavours. The band’s sound echoes the string/brass combos of ‘danson’ and ‘son’ traditions of Cuba, Brazil and the Mexican gulf region. The members of the band sing and play songs in English, Spanish, and Italian and in Sandro’s mother tongue ‘Furlan’ (FRULAN is regarded as a language of the Rheto-Romance group along with Ladin and Romansch). Joining Sandro are Patrick Miller and Emelia Wilmot on sax; Denis Close, Cavaquinho and percussion; Peter Baylor on guitar; Andy Ross on bass and Jo Abbott with piano accordion.
Black Cat Bone, with their unique combo of sax, guitar, bass and harp bring a party atmosphere with their jazz/blues style.
