There are a number of free information sessions being held across the bushfire impacted areas (details below). Most of these are coming up very soon.

There will be further information sessions held in the coming months. The details will be circulated via email and placed in the regular Shire community bulletins.

The PPWCMA will also have a website page dedicated to natural resource bushfire recovery where information about these events will be placed. You will be notified when this website page is online.

Department of Primary Industries Property Rehabilitation Workshops

This workshop will take the form of a paddock walk (weather permitting) with discussions on the following topics:

Pasture recovery – Kate Sargeant DPI Seymour, will discuss pasture management after fire, and when to re-sow if


Soil movement – how to stabilise your soil, protect your dams and the use of stock containment areas

Fencing – how to use this opportunity to rethink the layout of your property to sustainably manage your property

Weeds – prevent and manage weeds on your property

Time: 3.30pm afternoon tea for 4pm start (follow field day signs)

Locals to Steels Creek; Malcolm and Jane Calder will be hosting a discussion session of local vegetation after the bushfire. Bring along your questions and queries relating to the impacts of fire on vegetation on your block or in your local area.

Topics could include:

·  Tree health and recovery

·  Garden plants and fruit trees etc

·  Garden design tips

A presentation to assist with the identification of fire affected plants and the extent of damage to them. Learn about the patterns of plant recovery over the coming months.

The presentation may help you if you are wondering:

·  How to identify plants that may recover.

·  How to identify plants that are dead and won’t


·  How to identify hazardous trees.

Please bring in photographs of any plants from your

garden or property if you wish to discuss them after the session
