The 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission was established on 16 February to investigate the causes and responses to the bushfires which swept through parts of Victoria in late January and February 2009.
The Commission will deliver an interim report by 17 August 2009 and a final report by 31 July 2010.
The Commission is chaired by the Hon. Bernard Teague AO, supported by Commissioners Ron McLeod AM and Susan Pascoe AM.
Community consultations for fire-affected communities will be held between 18 March 2009 and 8 April 2009. The purpose of the consultations is for individuals from fire-affected communities to discuss their views about key issues in relation to the inquiry to be conducted by the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission. The consultation sessions are open to those Victorians who live or work in
the communities directly affected by the bushfires which the Royal Commission is visiting.
Registration is essential. To register, please call the community consultation line on 1800 842 463. Please note – The Royal Commission will seek to accommodate all affected individuals, but due to venue restrictions, attendee numbers may be limited. For more details visit
