A major course improvement is the the new descent using Whittlesea-Yea Rd! Cyclists will enjoy an improved section of the course with a smooth descent towards the finish line along Whittlesea Yea Road to thus avoid the rough narrow descent of Humevale Road.

For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, individuals entering either the 120km and 70km rides must indicate the approximate time they estimate it will take them to complete the course to allow for seeded starts. All km/h indicators are based on completing the ride non-stop.

Kinglake Climb – Will Walker Challenge
Test yourself against Pro Tour rider Will Walker’s blistering 15min 16sec assault on the 7.2km climb into Kinglake – KM markings & times located on course.

This fantastic and challenging course features 2 electrifying climbs – the first being the 7.2km climb to the top of Kinglake National Park – 546m above sea level! The second climb kicks in as you leave Flowerdale, drawing you closer to the peak of Kinglake West!
All group entries in the 120km ride of 10 or more participants have the chance to WIN a VIP marquee at the finish area with gourmet BBQ, refreshments and a masseur to relax and replenish after a challenging ride.
Note: Each member must enter individually online prior to the nominated group captain completing and returning the form below.
A limited number of cycle clubs, gyms, work and training groups will be given the opportunity to set up a club tent at the Degani Kinglake Ride 2009. For your club to be eligible please read and complete the Application Form below.
2009 Degani Kinglake Ride Tent Site Application Form
All riders entering the 2009 Degani Kinglake Ride will have the opportunity to raise funds for CFA Volunteer Leadership and Training programs so that they can continue to assist those affected by the bushfires in the Kinglake region.
Details regarding the fundraising execution for participants will be confirmed in detail in our next newsletter due out in June, as well as information posted on the website.
Ambulance Cover
SuperSprint contract Ambulance Victoria to provide paramedic and ambulance support on course – two will be in attendance. Mobile Medical support will also be on course, including Doctors, Sports Trainers, Paramedics and a Medical Support Vehicle. It is strongly recommended that participants have ambulance cover – ambulances will be in attendance at the event, however if you require transport by ambulance you will be charged for this service
Insurance
The Degani Kinglake Ride 2009 is covered by public liability insurance but this does not cover accidents caused by individuals or other riders. It is therefore strongly recommended that you have personal accident insurance (Cycling Australia, Bicycle Australia, Triathlon Australia) or medical cover along with ambulance cover, or a suitable level of health insurance.
